Compare the complete memorial, not only the headline price
When comparing tombstone prices, start by checking that the designs include the same things. An upright headstone on its own and a complete memorial with a long base are different purchases, even when the photographs show a similar colour of granite.
Keep the design code beside each price you save. Then ask about the dimensions, material, base, inscription and personal details included in that amount. This gives the family a useful comparison and helps you avoid choosing on an incomplete figure.
Standard designs have set prices; premium designs need a quote
The COD standard collection includes general tombstones, baby memorials and double tombstones. These designs use confirmed prices. If a price is still being finalised, the listing will say so; a missing price is not an offer at R0.
Executive and signature designs are part of our premium collection. Their materials, dimensions and personal details are confirmed for the individual memorial, so these designs use “Request a quote”. A premium quote should identify the design and the work included, making it possible to compare it with your other options.
Browse standard and premium tombstonesWhich details can affect the total?
Ask the team how each of the following applies to your selected memorial. A feature shown in an installation photograph should not automatically be assumed to be included in another design’s price.
- The stone type, finish and size of the headstone and base.
- Additional stonework, shaped elements or a more elaborate structure.
- The inscription, portrait, symbols and other requested details.
- Transport to the specific town or cemetery.
- Installation and any work included at the site.
Set a family budget before narrowing the design
Agree the amount the family is comfortable setting aside for the whole memorial and its arrangements. Share that figure when discussing designs, along with the features that matter most. For one family, that may be a portrait; for another, it may be space for a longer inscription or a double memorial.
A simpler design can still carry a very personal message. Comparing two or three complete options is often more helpful than collecting a long list of prices without knowing what each includes.
Confirm price and payment together
The price tells you the agreed amount. At COD Tombstones, you only pay on the day of installation. Confirm the total and accepted payment method with the team before you proceed. Keep the agreed total and delivery arrangements with the design and inscription approval.
For a standard design, contact us with its code to confirm its price and details. For a premium memorial, use the quote option on that design’s page so the team knows which tribute you have chosen.
